About Us

With intensification of R&D activities in Plant Pathology and modern screening tools like molecular markers, we strive to fulfill, the inspiration for this organization, who has always advised us to evolve varieties which can be grown organically and ensure a safer food supply and environment. Keeping this in mind, from the next year we plan to have a separate trial, which will be grown organically beginning with organic seed. Along with growers' interest we also keep consumers' interest in mind. Therefore, the traits like taste, flavour, colour, processing qualities are of equal. Over the years, production seasons and areas have been standardized. We are in a position to ensure steady supply throughout the year. During the production cycle, our production managers and technicians ensure that only quality and healthy seeds are harvested. Before any seed is authorized for packing it passes through rigorous quality testing. Every season our seed technology lab completes hundreds of thousands of tests to make sure that only quality seed reaches our customers. Working closely with growers and dealers, Somnath Agri Sciences sales executives assess the adaptability of new varieties to local conditions and tailor their recommendations for product and cultural practices. We ensure that our sales staff is technically qualified and experienced to evaluate the product with you, the customers, and guide our future research! Somnath Agri Sciences is considered to be one of the emerging seed companies supplying reliable hybrid vegetable seeds in India with offices across the country including the Head Office at Bangalore. The company is ably supported by a strong R & D with the requisite experience for the business and a vast germplasm collection. Researchers at Somnath Agri Sciences are focused on identifying germplasm with Multiple Disease Resistance (MDR) and are continuously assisting the breeding programs. Breeders at Somnath Agri Sciences factor in the other requirements of farmers to develop new hybrids. The hybrids with rich attributes are then tested at different research stations of the company for their adaptability and performance across the country. The Company's focus crops are Tomato, Chilli, Bhendi and Cucurbits including gourds and Watermelon. The R & D farms at Vijayapur in Karnataka, and Jalna in Maharashtra are in ideal locations allowing a high degree of selection pressure for tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. The size of the farms (more than 10 acres in all) is good enough to achieve a good crop rotation program. Our R & D in general and farmers in particular can benefit greatly when we enrich our knowledge and germplasm pool with contributions from Premier Research Institutes IIHR(Indian Institute of Horticulture Research), Bangalore & IVRA(Indian Vegetable Research Institute),Varanashi with the sole aim of alleviating the problems faced by the farmers. Somnath Agri Sciences spends 10 to 12 % of its turnover for R & D and has been spent every year.
